Free 1-Minute Typing Test
One minute. A useful check-in.
A one-minute typing test is a convenient way to check your current rhythm. It is long enough to notice small pauses and repeated mistakes, while remaining easy to fit between other tasks. Typespry starts the countdown when you type your first character, so you can settle your hands before you begin.

How to take your test
- Use a keyboard you know, and sit in a comfortable position.
- Open the test and read the first few words. Type them exactly as shown.
- Start at a sustainable pace. Use Backspace when you need to correct a character.
- When the minute ends, review accuracy alongside WPM. Try the missed-word practice if a particular pattern caused trouble.
Understand the result
Typespry calculates WPM from correctly matched characters remaining in your input, divided by five, divided by elapsed minutes. Spaces count as characters. This is a standardized character-based measurement; it does not simply count how many complete words appear on screen.
Accuracy measures correct character attempts as a percentage of all character attempts. Backspacing fixes the text but does not remove an earlier incorrect attempt from that measurement. A faster run with many corrections can therefore have a lower accuracy than a slower, steadier run.
Make comparisons that mean something
Repeat the same duration, vocabulary, punctuation and number settings when comparing sessions. Common words, code and sentences demand different movements. Use the same device where possible, and look at several comparable results rather than your single fastest attempt. Read what your WPM really means for more detail.
| What you want to work on | A useful next session |
|---|---|
| Fewer corrections | 25 words without a countdown |
| A steadier pace | A 120-second endurance test |
| Capitals and punctuation | An original passage |
| A regular habit | Today’s daily challenge |
Common questions
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can type immediately as a guest. Guest progress stays in this browser. Signing in lets the existing account system sync your progress through Supabase.
Can I take the test on a phone?
Yes. Tap the typing area to open your keyboard. A phone keyboard works differently from a physical keyboard, so compare phone results with other phone results.
Is this a typing certificate?
No. It is a personal practice result. A school or employer may use different text, timing, scoring or verification requirements.
Will the shared practice link contain my text?
No. A practice link carries test settings, and a new set of words is generated when it opens. Custom text and account details are never included.
Keep a session useful rather than perfect. A short, repeatable practice habit gives you more information than one unusually fast run.
