TYPESPRY PRACTICE GUIDE

Free online typing practice

Choose the text that matches the skill you want to practice.

Typespry brings timed tests, word-count exercises, passages, code snippets and custom text into the same typing studio. Each mode gives you a different kind of practice while keeping speed, accuracy and mistake review together. No account is needed to begin.

Word typing practice

Words mode offers 10, 25, 50 or 100 words. The session ends when your input reaches the prompt length. Choose Everyday English for familiar words, Expanded English for variety, Advanced English for longer vocabulary, or Programming for technical terms. Punctuation and Numbers let you add another kind of precision.

A short word set can make a recurring mistake easier to see. Finish the exercise, inspect the missed words, and repeat at a comfortable pace. Keep the word count and settings the same when comparing your scores.

Passage and paragraph typing

Passage mode uses complete text rather than an isolated word list. It gives you practice reading ahead through sentences, capitals and punctuation. Type the prompt exactly as displayed, and use Backspace when you need to correct it.

Read one small group of words ahead instead of racing past an uncertain character. If a passage feels harder than an everyday-word test, compare it with another passage session rather than treating the difference as a loss of skill.

Code typing practice

Code mode presents snippets for exact-character practice. Brackets, quotes, capitals, operators and technical names need deliberate attention. The Programming word set is a separate option for timed or word-count tests; it practices vocabulary rather than a full code snippet.

Code typing does not assess whether you can design or debug software. Read the programmer practice guide to choose a routine that fits the symbols you find difficult.

Practice with your own text

Open Practice and choose Custom. Paste your text or import a text file, then use the text to begin. The accepted length is 10–3,000 characters after spacing is normalized; line breaks become spaces. The full passage stays in the current tab.

Missed words or code tokens and aggregate typing statistics can be saved with your progress or synced to an account. Avoid confidential material. The privacy policy explains what is stored.

Make each attempt useful

Typespry measures WPM from matching characters left in the final input, and accuracy from correct character attempts. Backspacing improves the text without removing earlier incorrect attempts. Review both measures, then use Practice missed words, Retry same text or a focused drill to revisit a difficulty.

Beginners can start with the six typing lessons. A seven-day practice plan gives you a different focus without requiring long sessions. For a timed check-in, try a typing speed test.

Use text that fits your task

Try original English paragraph exercises for connected sentences, invented emails and data-entry text for practical details, or number and punctuation exercises for individual movements. Each guide links to the existing practice modes.
